Latest verified BLACKPINK news update.
Just two days before JENNIE releases her highly anticipated digital EP Fallen Angel, an online controversy is attempting to overshadow her comeback. On August 26, 2026, several posts began comparing one of JENNIE’s promotional images with artwork associated with Ariana Grande’s “Supernatural” and Cherie Amour’s 2022 album Spiritual Ascension. The accusations focus on similarities involving dramatic lighting, floral imagery, saturated colors, and a central portrait.
However, visual resemblance alone does not prove plagiarism—and the comparisons circulating online do not establish that JENNIE or her creative team copied either project.
The elements being compared are widely used throughout music photography, fantasy artwork, religious-inspired imagery, and fashion editorials. Flowers, celestial light, centered figures, and red or purple palettes are not exclusive to one artist or campaign.
More importantly, Fallen Angel is not defined by one poster. Its larger visual universe includes silent-film styling, black-and-white photography, vivid red scenes, theatrical sets, vintage costumes, angelic symbolism, and dark fairy-tale storytelling.
The official teaser places JENNIE inside a puppet-theatre-like world while exploring human greed, emotional weight, and the desire to fly freely. This narrative direction extends far beyond the isolated visual similarities emphasized in viral posts.
No comparison currently proves the copying of a complete composition, original photograph, distinctive character, logo, or typography. A shared atmosphere or color combination is not enough to establish plagiarism.
As of this report, Ariana Grande, Cherie Amour, their representatives, and their labels have not publicly accused JENNIE of plagiarism. No photographer, designer, or rights holder connected to the referenced artworks has announced legal action.
JENNIE and OA Entertainment have not issued a statement specifically addressing the comparisons either. That silence must not be portrayed as an admission: this remains online speculation, not a professional or legal finding.
OA’s August 18 notice concerning malicious posts and false information was published before this controversy. It should therefore not be presented as a direct response to these accusations.
BLINKs have every reason to support JENNIE, but the strongest response is not attacking other artists or fanbases. It is correcting misleading claims, refusing to amplify inflammatory edits, and asking for credible evidence.
The digital edition of Fallen Angel arrives on August 28 at 1 p.m. KST with “FALLEN ANGEL,” “HEAVEN,” and “Less than a Lover.” Its physical edition expands the project to six tracks by adding “sweettooth,” “lockitdown,” and “Face.”
Until credible evidence or a formal complaint emerges, presenting JENNIE as having committed plagiarism is irresponsible. Similar aesthetics can inspire discussion, but an accusation is not a verdict—and repeating speculation does not transform it into fact.
Support JENNIE, share the verified context, and let the complete Fallen Angel visual story speak for itself. 🖤💗
