LISA has released a new snippet and promotional images for “SaWaDiKa,” the first single from her upcoming six-track EP PRESS PLAY—and the internet has already started delivering verdicts on a song nobody has heard in full.
The preview introduces a confident rap centered on luxury, fame, and LISA’s global identity. Some online commenters have called the lyrics “corny” or overly self-focused, while others have criticized the artwork and compared the snippet’s energy with Slayyyter’s “Crank.”
Those reactions exist, but they remain subjective responses to a short teaser. “SaWaDiKa” will not be released until September 3, meaning its complete production, structure, verses, choreography, and creative purpose are still unknown.
A few viral comments should not be mistaken for a universal verdict.
Critics have questioned why LISA continues writing from a position of confidence. But commanding, self-assured performance has always been central to her appeal—from “LALISA” and “MONEY” to “Rockstar” and her work with BLACKPINK.
That does not make every lyric immune from criticism. It does mean the teaser should be understood within the style it is pursuing: a bold introduction designed to announce LISA’s arrival, not an intimate ballad attempting emotional vulnerability.
Calling the song narcissistic before hearing its complete context ignores how frequently pop and hip-hop use wealth, status, fashion, and self-belief as performance language.
The Slayyyter comparison is similarly unproven. No songwriter, producer, label, or rights holder has alleged copying, and a resemblance in attitude or cadence is not evidence of plagiarism.
The campaign’s clearest statement is cultural.
“SaWaDiKa” stylizes “sawasdee ka,” the polite Thai greeting used by women. Its visuals combine a contemporary Muay Thai outfit, boxing imagery, and a blue-and-red tuk-tuk with high-fashion styling.
Rather than hiding her origins to fit a Western pop template, LISA is placing recognizable elements of Thailand inside an international rollout spanning Bangkok, New York, Los Angeles, and Mexico City.
This direction is consistent with her role as Amazing Thailand Ambassador, which she accepted in 2025. Tourism Authority of Thailand governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool publicly praised the campaign, saying the greeting reinforces the warmth associated with Thai people.
That official response matters: while some outsiders are debating whether the imagery is “authentic enough,” Thai cultural representatives are welcoming its global visibility.
Fans can dislike a snippet, question an artistic decision, or prefer another side of LISA. Honest criticism is part of releasing music publicly.
But declaring an entire era creatively bankrupt before its first song arrives is premature.
“SaWaDiKa” is released on September 3, followed by PRESS PLAY on October 23. Until then, audiences have only fragments of a deliberately larger campaign.
BLINKs and Lilies do not need to attack critics to support LISA. The strongest response is to share accurate context, celebrate the Thai references, and wait for the complete record.
LISA has said hello. The world should at least let her finish the introduction. 🇹🇭💛
