BLACKPINK’s Jennie has officially announced her new digital EP, “Fallen Angel,” set for release on August 28, 2026, at 1 PM KST. The three-track project will include “FALLEN ANGEL,” “HEAVEN” and her latest single, “Less than a Lover.”
Jennie is preparing to open another chapter of her solo career.
On August 21, the BLACKPINK member announced through her agency Odd Atelier that her new digital EP, “Fallen Angel,” will arrive on August 28 at 1 PM KST, corresponding to midnight EDT. The announcement was accompanied by the EP’s official cover artwork and a cinematic trailer offering the first detailed look at the project’s visual identity.
Odd Atelier presented the EP as a project rooted in personal emotion and authentic self-expression, describing it as a gift from Jennie to her fans. The announcement confirms that “Fallen Angel” will contain three songs:
- FALLEN ANGEL
- HEAVEN
- Less than a Lover
The concise tracklist brings together two songs Jennie had previously introduced during her 2026 festival performances and one already-released single, creating a bridge between her summer stages and her next official release.
“Fallen Angel” Release Details
| Information | Details | |---|---| | Artist | JENNIE | | Project | Fallen Angel | | Format | Digital EP | | Release date | August 28, 2026 | | Release time | 1 PM KST / 12 AM EDT | | Number of tracks | 3 | | Agency | Odd Atelier | | Confirmed songs | “FALLEN ANGEL,” “HEAVEN,” “Less than a Lover” |
The project’s digital-only presentation and compact tracklist suggest a focused release built around a specific mood rather than a conventional full-length album cycle. However, Odd Atelier has not yet announced complete production credits, songwriting details or information about possible featured artists.
Additional promotional material may therefore reveal more about the people involved in the EP before its release.
A Dreamlike and Mysterious Visual World
The cover artwork introduces a softer and more enigmatic side of Jennie’s current era.
Jennie appears in a flowing white dress surrounded by flowers and greenery, creating an image that feels simultaneously romantic, mystical and slightly unsettling. The placement of the “Fallen Angel” title above her head resembles a crown or halo, reinforcing the contrast between innocence and darkness contained in the EP’s name.
Rather than presenting a literal fallen angel with wings, the artwork appears to rely on atmosphere and symbolism. The white dress, natural setting and fairy-tale styling establish an image of purity, while Jennie’s expression and the project’s title introduce a more ambiguous emotional layer.
That tension also defines the accompanying trailer.
The video begins in a dreamlike environment with a young girl’s narration inviting the listener to close their eyes and imagine flying freely. The peaceful opening then gives way to a rapid sequence of contrasting images, brief close-ups and Jennie’s intense gaze toward the camera. A snippet of the title track plays underneath the visuals, providing an early preview without revealing the full composition.
Korean reports described the trailer as cinematic and narrative-driven, while highlighting Jennie’s subtle facial expressions and the video’s fairy-tale atmosphere. Together, the cover and trailer suggest that the “Fallen Angel” era will explore the space between freedom and vulnerability, beauty and unease, or fantasy and emotional reality. Star News Korea
Those themes remain an interpretation of the visual material, however. Jennie and Odd Atelier have not yet published a detailed explanation of the song’s lyrics or overall concept.
“HEAVEN” Finally Receives an Official Release
The inclusion of “HEAVEN” is particularly meaningful for fans who followed Jennie’s summer festival run.
Jennie performed the previously unreleased song at Open’er Festival in Poland in July, where it was presented as an emotionally charged track dealing with heartbreak. During the same performance, she also introduced “Lock It Down” and the then-unreleased “Less than a Lover.” NME
“Heaven” now has a confirmed place on the “Fallen Angel” tracklist, creating an intentional contrast between the names of the EP’s first two songs. The pairing of “FALLEN ANGEL” and “HEAVEN” strengthens the celestial imagery surrounding the project and suggests that the two tracks could be connected thematically.
Interestingly, “Lock It Down,” another unreleased song performed during Jennie’s festival appearances, is not included on the officially announced three-track EP. Its absence leaves its release status unresolved and gives fans another reason to watch for future announcements.
“Less than a Lover” Sets the Stage
The third track, “Less than a Lover,” was released as a digital single on July 24 and serves as the established entry point into the EP.
Jennie participated in writing and composing the song, which explores the uncertain emotional space between friendship and a committed romantic relationship. Its production combines alternative-pop elements with lo-fi guitar and vintage electric keyboard textures, giving the track a softer and more intimate character than some of Jennie’s more performance-driven solo releases.
The single achieved strong results without a traditional television promotion cycle. It won first place on Mnet’s M Countdown, topped real-time charts on Bugs and performed strongly across several Asian streaming services. It also reached No. 1 on QQ Music, NetEase Music and Kugou Music in China, while receiving a gold certification on QQ Music. SBS Entertainment News
Weeks after its release, “Less than a Lover” remained inside the Melon Top 100, appearing at No. 48 on the chart dated August 18. Its continued domestic presence provides “Fallen Angel” with an already familiar track while the title song and “Heaven” offer fans new material.
Jennie also performed “Less than a Lover” live at Lollapalooza Chicago on August 1, shortly after its digital release.
From Festival Previews to an Official EP
The announcement gives new context to Jennie’s extensive 2026 festival run.
Throughout the year, she appeared at major events including Governors Ball, Roskilde Festival, Open’er Festival, Mad Cool Festival, Lollapalooza Chicago and Summer Sonic. These performances allowed her to expand the world established by her first solo studio album, “Ruby,” while gradually introducing unreleased songs to live audiences.
At Roskilde, Jennie became the first K-pop artist to headline a Danish festival. Roskilde Festival
Her Lollapalooza Chicago appearance marked another significant milestone. Jennie closed the Bud Light Stage on August 1 with an approximately one-hour, 18-song performance, becoming the first female K-pop act to headline the festival. The set included “Less than a Lover” and the debut of another unreleased song, helping build anticipation for what would follow her summer appearances. Yonhap News Agency
“Fallen Angel” now transforms part of that live-preview strategy into an official release. Songs that previously existed mainly through concert recordings and fan discussions will soon be available in their complete studio versions.
A New Chapter After “Ruby”
“Fallen Angel” arrives roughly a year and a half after Jennie released her debut solo studio album, “Ruby,” in March 2025.
That album established Jennie’s independent musical identity beyond BLACKPINK, allowing her to explore pop, rap, R&B and more experimental sounds while working with artists including Dua Lipa, Childish Gambino, Kali Uchis and Dominic Fike.
The new EP does not appear to replace or restart the “Ruby” era entirely. Instead, it feels like a more intimate continuation of Jennie’s solo evolution: a compact project shaped around newly written material, festival-tested songs and a clearly defined visual concept.
Its release timing is also notable. “Fallen Angel” will arrive only weeks after BLACKPINK’s 10th anniversary, giving BLINKs another major release to celebrate during an already meaningful period for the group and its members.
What Happens Next?
With one week remaining before release, several details are still expected:
- Complete songwriting and production credits
- Further concept images
- Additional audio previews
- Information about a possible music video
- Links for pre-saving the EP
- Potential promotional appearances or performances
For now, the official announcement confirms the essential details: Jennie’s “Fallen Angel” digital EP will be released on August 28 with three tracks and a concept built around personal expression, dreamlike imagery and material she has gradually shared with fans throughout the summer.
After months of festival performances and carefully timed previews, Jennie is finally ready to reveal the complete project.
